DATAMITE at Infocom World 2025

The Infocom World Conference 2025 took place on 26 November, combining an online event with an in-person gathering in Athens, under the theme ‘AI-Volution: A Brave New World!’. The annual meeting explored how AI and emerging technologies are transforming the business landscape, bringing together top decision-makers, ICT leaders and investors who are shaping the future.

The conference covered key topics in the following thematic sections: How AI is transforming the business landscape; how businesses can turn their data into a true advantage; the biggest cybersecurity risks in the new AI-driven reality; and how Europe can maintain its competitiveness in the AI race. Key speakers from Greece and abroad were brought together for the event. As in 2024, DATAMITE was present at InfoCom 2025 in two ways

On the one hand, DATAMITE hosted the session Data Monetisation and Interoperability: The DATAMITE Initiative. The session featured four members of the consortium as speakers: Christos-Antonios Gizelis from OTE Group of Companies, Martin Loers from FIR an der RWTH Aachen, Udo Bub from 1001 Lakes, and Andrea Visentin from University College Cork. The session was moderated by Christos-Antonios Gizelis, together with Ioannis Chochliouros.

On the other hand, DATAMITE was represented during the whole day of the event at the OTE booth, where the partners of the consortium communicated and disseminated the project to the attendees through our trifold and OTE’s virtual assistant.

DATAMITE at EBDVF 2025

The European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF) 2025 took place from 12 to 14 November in Copenhagen, Denmark. The event, organised by the Big Data Value Association (BDVA), in collaboration with the European Commission, DTU – Technical University of Denmark and SDU – University of Southern Denmark, brings together industry professionals, business developers, researchers and policy-makers from all over Europe and other regions of the world to advance policy actions and industrial and research activities in the areas of Data and AI.

As with previous editions in 2023 and 2024, DATAMITE did not want to miss this important event. A large delegation from the project travelled to Copenhagen to represent the consortium at various activities spread over the three days of the forum. The project had a booth on the ground floor — a prime location for attracting visitors — as well as a dedicated DATAMITE session on Thursday 13. The consortium members at EBDVF were delighted to present the progress made on the DATAMITE framework and the project's use cases to the many interested visitors who stopped by the stand.

The session, 'Data Interoperability and Monetisation: Framework, Use Cases and Market Adoption', took participants on a journey from the theory of data sharing to the practical creation of business value. The discussion focused on the DATAMITE Framework, a comprehensive approach designed to enable data monetisation, interoperability, and trading across sectors. Attendees gained insights into how the framework has been validated through real-world use cases, supporting the development of the Data Maturity Model and demonstrating how data can be transformed into a strategic business asset.

The session began with an exploration of why many organisations continue to struggle to achieve true interoperability and monetisation despite their data-sharing initiatives. It then delved into the technical intricacies of the DATAMITE framework, offering live demonstrations of the pivotal tools and models that form its foundation, including the Data Maturity Model and Valuation Model. Participants also learned how some of these components are already being offered as market-ready services by project partners, helping companies to take practical steps towards data-driven value creation. The event concluded with a panel discussion on adoption and market impact, featuring experts from ITI, OTE and Tecnalia who debated ways to accelerate Europe’s data economy by shifting focus from technical innovation to sustainable business value.

In addition to these individual activities, DATAMITE participated in EBDVF once again (as it did in 2024), co-hosting a session and co-running a booth as part of the EUDATA+ cluster. The EUDATA+ session, “A Journey Through the Data Lifecycle – Innovations, Use Cases, Values”, explored how data creates value, from its acquisition and enrichment to its real-world impact. The session brought together seven collaborative projects from the EUDATA+ Cluster (Graph-Massivizer, UPCAST, PISTIS, FAME enRichMyData, ExtremeXP, and DATAMITE) and showcased technologies and use cases that are already shaping Europe’s data-driven future.

Following an overview of the EUDATA+ data value chain, two expert panels featuring speakers from IDC, SINTEF, ITI and Fraunhofer discussed innovative solutions and practical applications across sectors. The session emphasised how European collaboration is transforming data innovation into tangible business and societal value, fostering a more interconnected and interoperable data ecosystem.

EUDATA+ Alliance Launched to Drive European Data Economy

November 2025 – The EUDATA+ Alliance, a cluster of seven projects funded under the European Commission's Horizon Europe programme and  formed in 2024, is proud to officially announce its mission and activities. This flagship collaboration aims to accelerate data sharing, monetization, and interoperability across Europe, addressing a critical need to unlock the full potential of the European data market.

The Context: A Critical Moment for Europe's Data Economy

In a rapidly evolving global landscape, the European Commission's Competitiveness Compass, unveiled by President Ursula Von Der Leyen on January 29, 2025, highlights the urgent need for economic revitalization. With fierce international competition in the AI sector, Europe's ability to compete hinges on its capacity to leverage data. The European data market is projected to reach €141 billion by 2030, yet a surprisingly low number of companies currently engage in data sharing. This untapped potential represents a significant opportunity, with the right conditions capable of unlocking an additional €270 billion in GDP by 2028.

EUDATA+ is positioned to be a key driver in this transformation.

EUDATA+: A Flagship Collaboration

Initially formed for dissemination purposes, the EUDATA+ cluster has evolved into a more substantial partnership with shared goals and knowledge transfer. The alliance is committed to addressing the challenges of data sharing and is built on four key pillars:

  • Scientific and Technical Collaboration: Fostering joint research and development.
  • Communication & Dissemination: Building a strong community and sharing project outcomes.
  • Business Topics & Strategies: Developing strategies for market exploitation and business models.
  • Pilots & Use Cases: Demonstrating the practical application of technologies.

The cluster's offerings include advanced technologies, scalable solutions for high-volume transactions, and approaches for data and metadata interoperability. By integrating research in data management, privacy, monetization, and compliance, EUDATA+ directly contributes to the development of European Data Spaces.

The Projects Involved

The EUDATA+ cluster unites seven projects, each bringing a unique contribution to the alliance:

  • PISTIS: A secure platform for sharing, trading, and monetizing proprietary data, leveraging technologies like federated data sharing and AI-driven quality assessment.
  • FAME: A unique, trustworthy, energy-efficient, and secure federated multi-sided data marketplace with trading and monetization for applications and services in Embedded Finance (EmFi) and more.
  • UPCAST: A project providing transparent, user-friendly plugins to automate data-sharing agreements across various entities.
