The 20th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations (AIAI) was held from 27 – 30 June in a Hybrid format, in Corfu and online. AIAI is a renowned international conference that brings together scientists and researchers each year to exchange the latest and most cutting-edge advances in the field. Its programme includes workshops that provide an ideal setting for the presentation of leading-edge conference papers.
DATAMITE had a strong presence at this year’s conference. On the one hand, DATAMITE organised and moderated a panel discussion with other EU-funded projects, and, on the other hand, the project presented five conference papers in two different sessions. The day with the highest number of DATAMITE participants was Thursday, 27 June, the first day of the conference. DATAMITE participated in the 5G-PINE 2: 5G – Putting Intelligence to the Network Edge (5G-PINE) Workshop with four Conference Papers:
- “Boosting Data Monetization with DATAMITE”, led by Jordi Arjona Aroca from ITI and presented by Vasilis Siopidis from CERTH.
- “Data Monetization Opportunities and Challenges: The European Landscape by DATAMITE”, led and presented by Christos-Antonios Gizelis from OTE.
- “Market Analysis of a Data Platform in the European Data Ecosystem”, led by Gabriel Gonzalez-Castañe and presented by Eduardo Vyhmeister from University College Cork.
- “Scalable Data Profiling for Quality Analytics Extraction”, led by Anastasios Nikolakopoulos and presented by Efthymios Chondrogiannis from ICCS – NTUA.
Following the publications presentation session, DATAMITE organised an interactive session – panel discussion to bring together experts from various EU-funded projects to discuss the importance and impact of data and its monetisation in various industries. The session was moderated by Antonis Sapountzis (AUSTRALO), Outreach, Exploitation, and Collaboration leader of DATAMITE. The participating projects, together with DATAMITE, were: ELOQUENCE, CyberSecDome, 6G-PATH, AMBITIOUS and Smart5Grid.
“Communication and dissemination activities are essential for European projects. It is very important to be able to transfer the knowledge, and the outcomes and the results of the project to the general public, but also to the targeted stakeholders -the potential users- and to the future companies and organisations that will use the project results”, Antonis Sapountzis states.
To conclude its participation in the conference, DATAMITE took part in the CSAD ( Cyber Security / Anomaly Detection) session on Saturday 29th, with a conference paper called “A Network-based Intrusion Detection System based on widely used Cybersecurity Datasets and State of the Art ML techniques”, led and presented by Efthymios Chondrogiannis from ICCS – NTUA.
The Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations (AIAI) Conference has been held continuously since 2005 under the auspices of the IFIP WG12.5. Over the years, it has evolved into a well-respected and mature event under the technical and scientific co-sponsorship of the AIAI community. This community comprises an extended group of leading scientists, not only from Europe but also from all over the globe.
