The Open Source Community Day, organised by the Eclipse Foundation in collaboration with EUCloudEdgeIoT.eu took place in Madrid on 23 and 24 September. The event offered EU-funded projects a unique opportunity to engage directly with the open source community, providing a space to connect, collaborate and exchange ideas. Contributors, researchers, developers and innovators from the open source community gathered in Madrid to explore the future of digital technologies and collaborative development.
As part of the event’s dissemination and collaboration activities, a community session was hosted where participants could present their ongoing research, open-source initiatives and project outcomes. DATAMITE was one of the projects presented by the Eclipse Foundation, as they are part of our consortium. David Remón and his colleagues at Eclipse used the DATAMITE trifold to engage with the community at the event, talking to other researchers and developers about DATAMITE. “They were very interested in our open-source strategy and how we collaboratively built the framework”, he reflects.
Open Source Community Day 2025 was a vibrant gathering of individuals united by their passion for open-source software and technology. During the event, the importance of collaboration across borders and industries in Europe was emphasised, as was the role of open-source software in enabling researchers, developers and industries to build innovative, secure and sustainable solutions. “DATAMITE is built on open source principles, and by taking part in this initiative we strengthen links with other research projects and developers focused on data as a driver of innovation and growth in a trusted and fair manner”, says David Remón.
